Quality and efficiency in maintenance, engineering and logistics

Indra conceives system support throughout its life cycle as a comprehensive approach that includes not only maintenance, but also engineering and logistics applied to these systems, under the control of a quality system that ensures process repeatability, supported by a calibration system that guarantees measurement traceability.

We apply the latest technologies, driving the digitalisation of sustainment, to achieve the highest reliability, rigour, and flexibility required by critical defence systems.

Our support is organised in accordance with NATO standards, typically structured into four levels, depending on the number of systems to be supported and their geographical distribution. We provide personnel and services at each of these maintenance tiers, including on-site support and deployment to operational areas in emergency situations.

International logistics experience and structure

For more than 50 years, Indra has been providing support services for different types of systems, both of its own design and manufacture and those from third parties.

To achieve this, we have an international logistics structure organised by regions or areas of interest (ISS Centres), with high-level hubs that enable us to deliver fast and close service to clients, complemented by a networked structure of basic-level centres and specialised facilities by technologies and/or systems.

At Indra, we ensure optimal system operation and anticipate mission needs, delivering services at the most advanced levels of maintenance to enable more efficient resource management.

We rely on cutting-edge technology and specialised capabilities that allow us to act swiftly and accurately through the use of sensing, simulation, digital twins, and remote support for interventions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Our key to success for high operational availability:

  • Correct ML1/2 maintenance: proper training and spare parts set
  • Agile logistics chain (standard and urgent transport routes)
  • Compliance with TAT for repairs and functional verification

We add the value of engineering, ensuring the necessary developments and expert knowledge throughout the entire life cycle of the systems to address the challenges posed by the pace of obsolescence, while additionally providing improvements and new functionalities to adapt to each client’s needs, including mid-life updates.

Obsolescence management: product configuration updates.

Procurement: supply of spare parts and consumables.

Configuration control: maintenance of serialised inventory, including HW/SW/FW configuration.

Service bulletins: periodic information service on regulations, safety, new functionalities, procedures, etc.

Logistics systems: asset management platform (repairs, training, documentation, shipments, configuration trees, etc.).

Technical assistance: permanent presence of technical staff at customer facilities for support or execution of ML 1/2/3 tasks.

Technical publications: from IETM class 0 to class 5. Publication and maintenance of technical documentation.

Repairs: depot-level repairs ML 3/4.

Training – eLearning: generic and ad-hoc training, traditional, OJT, CBT, etc.

Test tools and equipment: calibration and maintenance of TTE.

IT security and cybersecurity: vulnerability analysis and reporting.

Help Desk – user support service: traditional (email/telephone) vs Smart Glasses.

Specialised ad-hoc studies: coverage, radar performance analysis, ionising and non-ionising radiation, etc.

R-SPC, Radar System Performance Check: radar performance audit (pointing, MDS, PFA, levelling, height errors, etc.).

EW verification equipment: generation and emulation of signals for analysis, diagnosis and validation of EW systems.

On-site interventions: intervention team for critical failures anywhere in the world.
